Eric Clapton / Eric Clapton

　The Yardbirds、John Mayall＆the Bluesbreakers、Cream、Blind Faith と様々なバンドで活躍し、Delaney & Bonnie、Derek and the Dominos との共作を経て、1970年に発表されたソロ名義でのファースト・アルバムで、Atlantic Records のサブレーベルの Atco Records からリリースされています。もっとも Derek and the Dominos も1970年作品なので、この作品はほぼ並行して作られたものでしょうか。サウンド的には The Band に、心酔していたので、その影響を受けているとのこと。雑誌で Clapton は The Band に入りたかったと書かれていたことも書かれてたのを見て、まったく知らなかった The Band の作品も Moondog Matinee (1973)、The Band (2000) を購入して、なるほど Eric Clapton が惚れ込んだ納得のサウンド、今では愛聴盤になっています。

　そんな予備知識無く、このアルバムを最初に聞いた時の印象は、Clapton 先生がギラギラしてことを、冒頭のジャムセッション「Slunky」で思いました。

これまでの鋭い音のロックから

少し雰囲気を変えた骨太のギターサウンドと

ブラスアレンジです

このアルバムを経てデレク＆ドミノスの

構想が出来ていくのも納得です
