本日のCD Thelonious Monk ♪ Genius Of Modern Music Vol2

つい最近まで、これはモンクのベスト盤と思っていたら違いました。
ブルーノートのアルフレッド・ライオンが、
既成のスタンダードとは異なるセロニアス・モンクの音楽に魅せられ、
6回のセッションを実施し、その録音の中からピックアップ。
有名な「ストレイト・ノー・チェイサー」、
「モンクス・ムード」の初吹込みを含んでいる貴重な盤です。
それも、そのVol2、つまり第2弾でした
Blue Note 1511　です
第1弾は40年代半ばから後半の録音、
この第２弾は40年代の作品から5曲残りは50年代です。

モンクが現役当時は理解されなかったいうのが信じられないほど
曲も分り易いし、ピアノのフレーズもポップで楽しい。
ガーシュインの"ナイス・ワーク"なんかもガーシュインのメロディが、
完璧にモンクになっているところが凄い。
また５種類のセットを集めているので、それぞれのニュアンスの違いも聞聴きどころ。
